The seventh season of the World Poker Tour came to a close Saturday with 21-year-old Yevgeniy Timoshenko going wire-to-wire at the World Championship final table to claim $2.15 million.

The table was set for history as Scotty Nguyen was looking for his second WPT title. A win by Scotty would also make him the first to win a WSOP Main Event, the $50K HORSE event and a WPT World Championship.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier was looking for his second win at the Bellagio this year, after taking down the WPT Festa Al Lago in October. Grospellier could also lock down WPT Player of the Year by finishing 4th, or higher.

Also at the table were young pros Shannon Shorr and Christian Harder, as well as Ran Azor, an ametuer from Isreal. Shorr has a few WSOP final tables under his belt, and almost $3 million in career earnings. Harder made back-to-back final tables on the EPT in 2008, finishing 7th at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and 8th at the German Open.

Sadly, for all the others, it was Timoshenko's day. The Washington State kid of Ukrainian decent was never threatened at the final table, and in heads-up play with Ran Azor, Timoshenko was able to river a straight for the championship.

Timoshenko earned his WPT bracelet at the age of 21 years, 2 months and 15 days old. Only Nick Schulman was younger at the time of their WPT win. Schulman was 15 days younger than Timoshenko at the time he conquered the Season IV World Poker Finals at Foxwoods.

Timoshenko now has more than $3.1 million in career earnings. Prior to the WPT Championship, Timoshenko's claim to fame was a win at the first-ever Asian Poker Tour Macau stop, good for a $500,000 payday.
