Poker Icons announced Sunday that they have agreed to merge, effective immediately. The resulting new 'super poker agency' will be called
Poker Icons AB.
In their press release, Vegas Group is described as the best poker event organizers in Scandinavia as well as having some very strong Swedish poker players in their relatively new poker agency division, and a solid relationship with the Swedish media. Poker Icons have a reputation as being the premier agency for professional poker players. They are by far the biggest within their niche in Europe and they have great connections to the worldwide poker media.
Poker players represented by the new agency include:# Annette Obrestad, winner of WSOPE 2007, of Norway
# James "AndyMcLEOD" Obst, ranked number 1 in Australia
# Thierry Van Den Berg, overall second at the EPT Final Tables in 2007, of Netherlands
# Chris "Moorman1" Moorman of UK & Alex "AJKHoosier1" Kamberis of USA, both online super stars
# Michael Tureniec, 2nd place EPT London 2008, of Sweden
# Stefan "Matadoren" Mattsson, 2nd in WPT Barcelona 2008, of Sweden
# Arnaud Mattern, winner of EPT Prague 2007, of France
# Joao Barbosa, winner of EPT Warsaw and Unibet Open in Barcelona 2008, of Portugal
# Soren Kongsgaard, Albert Iversen and Peter "zupp" Jepsen, all of Denmark
The new company's new international approach will also result in not only having offices in Sweden and Norway, representatives are also present in Finland, UK, France, Holland and the US, to be able to take care of its players on a local basis too.
Current CEO of Vegas Group, Lars Kollind, will remain CEO of the new poker agency. AB. Per Hagen, the founder and chief executive of Poker Icons, will be President of the new poker agency.
